You all know we at Slice love our CBC. Last week CBC's radio program 'GO' did a show about finding Canada's Alternative National Anthem. WE LOVE THIS!!!

It's Canada's mellowed answer to Weird Al Yankovic....SJ the Wordburglar. The Wordburglar is a Halifax native. According to great old Wikipedia, his style is best described as energetic and zany with an emphasis on wordplay and humour. We just think he is fantastic. He primarily works with his crew Backburner and Props Dept for all aspects of his music creation, including production, cuts, mixing, mastering and guest vocals. He is currently working on his third full length album.

This is his version of Canada's Alternative National Anthem. It’s awesome. We think this should be playing every morning over school PA systems! YO CANADA! It's awesome. Enjoy!

Yo Canada! This is going out to my favourite country... that I was never born in!
v1
Wolverine. Raw Cuisine. How 'bout a plate of some, Hot Poutine?
We got the Queen, on most of our cash, 'cept Canadian Tire's got that dude with a Mustache!
My bus passes are a necessity, so we can cut gasses for our longevity
See, now that's “word” to Dave Suzuki, I love Newfies and drinking strange Brewskies
So give me two of these, “Double Dobule's!, some Rush album, Ricky, July and dem Bubbles
And we could chill, or we could just raise hell, and we all know somebody in the NHL
It's the home of Sasquatches and draft dodgers, and the Skydome (yo Change it back Rogers)
Larry Walker's in the Hall of Fame
Canada, I like what you called your name

chorus
I said Canada
We're your favourite friends
It's the Same in French!
Don't hate Parliament Hill
They pay your hospital bills
Yo Canada x2
Ya, I like you

v2
Yup Yup, it's the W.Burgie, Louis Del Grande was born in New Jersey
But I'll take him for an answer, like Alex Trebek, Pamela Anderson, Captain Kirk and Quebec
Bibliotheques(library) turtlenecks and thick pajamas, Rick Moranis and that chick Alains
before Titanic, we new Celine Dion, but I'd rather talk about my chesterfield from Leon's...eh?
Ya, we're some crazy fellas, chugging Maple Syrup and shopping at Zellers
playing with Beavers and watching Lacrosse,
and how come we're always the bad guys on Lost?
I dunno! (inaudible-*if you understood what he said comment* )
and Joe Sakic will always be a Nordiques
Canada, it's easy to spell, So try to do the right thing, like Louis Riel

chorus
Canada
Ya, We're your favourite friends
It's the Same in French!
Yo, don't hate parliament hill
They pay your hospital bills
Ya, Coast to Coast is a Long way, Canada
C'est les mêmes en Anglais (It's the same in English)

This has been a Heritage moment.

Almost. Here it is a little more accurately (although I'm still unsure of one word)...

Well personally I like it very much, it helps me on cleaning on weekends and also in rock bars that they always their music, it's cool, but what I really wonder is why they stop ? i mean they were a great band.
